I was tagged for a meme by kellypea…oh, about nine years ago. Hey, better late than never, right? The meme, originally from here, says to list 5-10 goals I would need to accomplish to achieve my wildest dreams. For the past week, “finishing goal meme” was on the list. Well, not really, but it was bugging me. So here they are - my goals….
These are in no particular order. It was hard enough coming up with them without adding the stress of prioritizing them.
1. To make one of my businesses financially successful.
This is a pretty self-explanatory goal. I used to own a maternity and children’s clothing store with my mother-in-law. Then when we moved to CO, I owned another. I only owned each store for a year. Not enough time to really grow them into something successful. Last June, I started this (Go on, click it. Buy something and help me fulfill my goal.) and this one with The Husband. The second business is in the process of undergoing a revamp. I’m hoping to make one of these two little projects - or both - see some success.
2. To raise my kids to be happy and productive adults.
This is probably any decent parent’s goal. For right now, the pursuit of that goal means homeschooling…as well, as a super, freakin’ cool project for The Boy, that I will talk about in it’s own post soon….because we need your help. Yes, you. (You can get a sneak peek here) It also means psychologist-schmychologist visits (for The Boy)…even if I don’t want to go, being an advocate, and rereading my Positive Discipline books - AGAIN, and Siblings Without Rivalry - AGAIN, and trying to not sweat the small stuff. Like sticky floors, empty toilet paper rolls, and more mother lovin’ laundry than two small people should ever generate.
3. To make my mark on the world.
Totally narcissistic, I suppose, but I want to leave a legacy of something when I die. Er….preferably something good (aside from goal number 2 listed above). I want people to have an easy time writing my eulogy.
See how helpful I am? I am not sure yet how to achieve this goal. I’ll let you know if I come up with anything…y’know, so you can get a head start on the eulogy.
4. To figure out how to get myself back in shape and stay that way.
This evil, evil goal is the bane of my existence. I love the idea of eating healthy. I even love lots of healthy foods. I am a vegetarian. I also love chocolate, brownies, s’mores, tiramisu, thin mints, french onion dip, caramel sauce, peanut M&M’s, a good bubbly Coke from McDonald’s, decaf caramel Frappucinos…….need I go on? Even on the occasions I wrangle my diet into some form of control…the exercise thing kills me. I hate any form of exertion, pretty much. I have many a DVD that I thought I could hang with (bellydancing, baby!)…but I just can’t seem to find the time or motivation needed to stick with it. I want to get in shape. I do. But why does it involve all of that damn exercise?
5. To visit Italy.
Someday when the kids are older, The Husband and I will jet off to Italy……and the kids will jubilantly throw a party. The kind of party involving red Solo cups, a keg, and a guy that nobody seems to know throwing up in my clothes hamper.
6. To continue to grow as a person.
By this I mean…to constantly be stepping back and taking stock. Checking areas where I have made progress, and identifying those that could use some improvement….(Punctuation is one of them, which I am sure you have noticed.)
7. To continue to grow in my faith.
Pretty much the same as number 6 up there, but in my faith. Growing, learning, reevaluating, moving forward.
Phew, so there they are. It only took me forever to get them written down. Perhaps “stop procrastinating” should have been on the list. Thanks again to kellypea for the tag. Since I don’t really know all that many bloggers, and this one is quite a thinker (at least for me), feel free to tag yourself. If you want to tackle this meme, visit the original rules here, and please leave me a comment or email letting me know you did it, so I can go check out your goals.
(Holy crap, Kelly. I finally put it up.)

I liked how you asked people to “feel free to tag yourself” because that was a pretty challenging aspect of this for me. The meme was very personal and I don’t really know people “out there.” It has, however allowed me to visit people’s sites regularly — like yours :-} — which has been wonderful. Congrats to you on your goals — especially number 6. I should have thought of that one.

I can totally agree with you on the exercise. I hate exercising. Summer is good because then I actually do things — like garden, play soccer or tennis with the kids, walk, etc.., but in the winter–forget about it! I also own like every Denise Austin video possible which is now collecting dust. I have come to the conclusion that she’s in love with herself and that is why her body looks that good. I, on the other hand, have other things to do besides look in the mirror and decide which fat I need to lose first. I can picture here eulogy…”she spent alot of time working out”. Great. What did you do with the rest of the time you were given? Ok, I digress. Anyway, I wish I was better too. I did lose about 8 pounds just switching my diet . That got old fast though. Now I need to actually walk or something. Maybe someday I’ll be “fit” again.
