Coach, 40, Marries 16 Year Old Student. Did I mention Gah? What kind of dirty old man “falls in love” with a 14 year old girl? Dude. Oh, the heebies. Oh, the jeebies. The parents signed off for the marriage! Wha?!?! They said they had tried everything. Okaaaay…..Over my dead body would I ever be signing a paper allowing my 16 year old child to marry a 40 year old. I know someone is probably going to play devil’s advocate and say they were just trying to preserve their relationship with their daughter….blah, blah, blah. Whatever. As parents, it is their job to have the common sense when their child does not. I suppose they were afraid she may run off with him…I don’t know. What do you think? Do you understand the parents’ decision or are they freaking crazy? [Come on, vote for freaking crazy…you know they are.]

Perfect example of parents not being parents. Burns my butt… Yea, the old man with a 14 year old does give me the heebies… But the parents accepting is worse in my book. Do, your job… Step up and be a parent.

I’m voting crazy, and I married a man much older than me (not that much though). Yeah, at 16 you are not yet sober enough from the hormone infusion to make rational decisions. Mom and dad deserve a swift kick up the you know what.

NO. just no. If a parent makes a choice like that it should have to be approved me a court of law, that allows Coach 40 there to do whatever he likes with Miss 16. Any other 40 year old did that it wouldn’t be marriage, it would be pedophilia and his ass would get dragged to jail and he would have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
They are crazy.
They had 2 more years to keep her out of his arms LEGALLY. I don’t know what they were thinking.

You want to know something sick? My JV Basketball coach ended up marrying one of my teammates. Mmmmhm. He divorced his wife, his “affair” with the 17 year old got found out, he was fired, and when she graduated and turned 18 they were married.
Yeah.
My basketball coach did this.
GROSS.
And when I still lived in that town, I would see them around.
And it gave me the heebs every time I saw him after that.

Yeah, gross. My high school soccer coach used to hit on a few of us but as far as I know that’s all that he did. It totally freaks me out to think of now. Sick bastards.

Oh I went to school with a gal who married the girls softball coach. yes, she was on the team. I’ve since had classmates say they knew something was going on while she was in school. now, he was a young coach. Somewhere in the last 20’s to 30’s. But still…yuck!
No, i don’t get the parents signing off on it. But i guess I don’t have to get it. Just another clue that this is really a nuthouse that we call ‘life’.

That’s IT! I’m never having kids. Too many freaks out there.
I mean, c’mon! 40 years old! I don’t need a crystal ball to know this dude’s history. He was molested as a child and became sexually active at or prior to the age of 16. It is common for abuse victims (male and female) to stop maturing at or around the time that abuse happened and maintain attraction to people around that age. Dude never dealt with it.
This won’t be the last 16 year old he has. I give him under five years before he’s arrested for being with another 16 year old.
As much as I abhor the parents’ actions I also hold other people in the community responsible. The police didn’t grant a restraining order. The school officials didn’t help.
She sued for emancipation? I’ll tell you, if my (someday) child was being manipulated to this extent by some 40 year old, I’d be moving from the neighborhood, I’d be enrolling her in a different school…I’m just not convinced the parents did “everything they could” like the article says.
Sorry to rant. This got me a little fired up.

My (married) high school drama teacher had a thing with a girl in my class. . Everyone knew about it.He divorced his wife and married her when she graduated from high school.
