Who The Heck Is This Guy?

June 15th, 2008 · 15 Comments

You don’t see much of The Husband around here. That’s pretty much due to the fact that he really would rather not have his face gracing the computer screens of complete strangers (all ten of you who still read this blog)…..and I try to respect that. But since it is Father’s Day, he is going to just have to suck it up because I have some things to share.

This is The Husband and The Girl. His Babygirl. And oh, is she a Daddy’s Girl. You would be too if you had a daddy who carried you around on his shoulders, put your hair into ponytails, let you cross things off the list when he took you grocery shopping, and laid curled up in your little twin bed with you every night until you fell asleep. (Well, at least until you turned five. Now Daddy…and his back….get a break…you are working on going to sleep alone.)

See? Daddy’s girl.

This particular daddy also goes by the name Bana (pronounced Buh-nuh). Why Bana? Who knows. The Boy first met Bana when he was about 19 months old. The Boy had a habit of mishearing things. (Still does.) The Boy also had a habit of making up words. (Still does.) Upon meeting The Husband, The Boy somehow got it in his mind that he was called Bana. No one knows why. Upon any correction, The Boy merely shook his head, adamant. He was Bana. Period. And he still is.

This particular Bana changes bike tire intertubes, spends 8 hours working on a Rube Goldberg version of a simple circuit, and BBQ’s a mean tri-tip (Or so I’ve heard. I’m a vegetarian.) This particular Bana also sold his beloved truck, as soon as we started dating, because it could not fit a carseat for a certain, small boy. A small boy who will soon be much taller than Bana.

See how his skinny, little beanpole legs are practically dragging? I predict The Boy will be taller than Bana in less than two years. What do you think?

If you happen to have a dad…or a Bana…like this is your life, you should consider yourself to be lucky. And blessed.

I know I am.

Happy Father’s Day Nick/Bana/Daddy!

All of the pictures in this post were taken by the most supercool, awesome photographer, Lynsey Peterson. If you are anywhere near Boulder, CO you should schedule a session. Even if you are not near Boulder (which I am not….this session was at Huntington Beach, CA), you should still check out her site, because she travels from time to time. It is super-fun and super-worth it. Thank you so much for the pictures, Lynsey!

Great photos - hope you all didn’t get too wet. Happy father’s day to Bana. Our father’s day happens early September so it’s a bit strange reading about father’s day in June.

The whole time I am thinking ‘who was taking those amazing photos?’ :)

Happy Fathers Day Bana. You sound like a wonderful man.

Good thing it isn’t Fathers Day here in Oz cause my post wouldn’t be as glowing!

What beautiful pictures … she’s really talented (although of course, it helps to have such good-looking subjects)!
I am mildly curious what your daughter found in her dad’s ear in that first picture though … :-)
Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads.

Those are wonderful words. And those photos are gorgeous - I love the one where you’re all running towards us.

And I’m miffed I’m not one of the ten.
